SN 35.230 bāḷisikopamasutta

seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, bāḷisiko āmisagatabaḷisaṃ gambhīre udakarahade

pakkhipeyya. tamenaṃ aññataro āmisacakkhu maccho gileyya. evaṃ hi so, bhikkhave, maccho gilitabaḷiso bāḷisikassa, anayaṃ āpanno byasanaṃ āpanno yathākāmakaraṇīyo bāḷisikassa.

evameva kho, bhikkhave, chayime baḷisā lokasmiṃ anayāya sattānaṃ,

vadhāya pāṇinaṃ. katame cha? santi, bhikkhave, cakkhuviññeyyā rūpā ... sotaviññeyyā saddā ... ghānaviññeyyā gandhā ... jivhāviññeyyā rasā ... kāyaviññeyyā phoṭṭhabbā ... manoiññeyyā dhammā iṭṭhā kantā manāpā

tañce bhikkhu abhinandati abhivadati ajjhosāya tiṭṭhati, ayaṃ vuccati,

Suppose, monks, a fisherman would throw a baited hook into a deep pool of water. A certain fish with eyes for the bait would swallow that one. Thus, indeed, monks, the fish [that] has swallowed the hook of the fisherman has met with misfortune, has met with destruction, to be done with by the fisherman as he wishes.
